Our fees are guided by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Schedule of Recommended Fees. Our practice does not offer bulk billing, however discounted rate consultations are available for Health Care Card holders.
Fees are dependent on the type of service required, the length of the session, and your referral pathway. Please read more about our psychology and neuropsychology fees below.
Psychology consultations at Brain Care Health are $250 per session.
Medicare Rebate
If referred by your GP along with a Mental Health Care Plan you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $101.55 for each 50 minute consultation.
So, the total of $148.45 is the out-of-pocket expense with a Medicare rebate payable on the day.
Payment is required at the time of consultation. With HICAPS we can process most health funds and Medicare claims at the time of payment. You can pay the difference or gap fee by EFTPOS or Credit Card.
Private Health Insurance
Psychology services may be subsidised by your private health insurer if you have a policy with extras cover. Please check with your insurance provider the rebate available prior to making an appointment, so there are no surprises on the day.
Please Note: You will need to decide if you will use Medicare or private health insurance cover to pay for the psychology sessions. You cannot use private health insurance cover to ‘top up’ the Medicare rebate for services. You can use your private insurance cover as well as your Medicare rebates in the same year, but you cannot claim for both on the same day of your appointment.
You do not need a referral from a medical practitioner to qualify for private health insurance rebates.
Third Party Funding
For clients with an approved TAC, Worksafe, and NDIS plan, psychology services are paid for by these funding bodies as part of your treatment plan or service agreement. Each client will have an approved number of psychological support services that can be utilised per calendar year.
Services are typically reviewed annually.
The total cost for a neuropsychological assessment will vary depending on the complexity and the referral question. The cost varies because different referral questions require a different number of hours to complete all components of the evaluation.
At present, Medicare does not cover the cost of assessments. However, components can attract a rebate under a mental health care plan like the initial consultation, feedback session and any ongoing support or counselling.
However, you may be able to claim against your private health insurance. Please check with your insurance provider if this is possible prior to making an appointment.
Approximate Fees

We will discuss fees with each client prior to booking the assessment, and provide an accurate estimate of the total cost at the time of referral.
If you are privately funded or self-funding your neuropsychological assessment, an upfront 50% of the fee is payable prior to the assessment being commenced. The remaining 50% is due prior to the report being released.
Third Party Providers
Brain Care Health is a registered provider through TAC and Worksafe.
The cost of neuropsychological assessments, neuro-behavioural evaluations and therapeutic intervention will be funded by the TAC or Worksafe for approved clients.
Many services are also eligible for NDIS funding.
Written approval for the cost of the services requested is required prior to your first appointment.
